What makes a review valuable?

Before you leave a review, keep these tips in mind:

Details matter!

A great review goes beyond a simple "good" or "bad" rating. When leaving a review, the more detailed you can be, the better. Your insights help others make informed decisions about where to eat safely. A well-written review should go beyond general impressions and provide clear, useful information. Focus on specifics—whether it’s about the food, service, or safety measures—so others can understand exactly what to expect. Above all else, be honest! Both positive and negative reviews help empower the gluten-free community when choosing where to dine.

Speak From Experience.

Your review should reflect your personal experience dining at the restaurant. If you have celiac disease or severe gluten sensitivity, mention how well the restaurant accommodated your needs. Avoid repeating hearsay or assumptions—stick to what you directly observed and experienced.

Tag it up!

Tags make it easier for others to filter and find restaurants that meet their needs.

Be sure to include relevant ones:

  • GF Menu – Does the restaurant have a dedicated gluten-free menu? Are items clearly marked, or is there no mention of gluten-free options?

  • Safety Tags – Highlight important precautions like a dedicated gluten-free fryer, kitchen, or prep space. You can also note if staff is knowledgeable or if food comes out flagged.

  • GF Menu Items – Tag specific gluten-free offerings, such as pizza, sandwiches, waffles, or donuts, to help others know what’s available.

  • Other Tags – Include tags for additional dietary needs (like dairy-free) or useful details (such as "good for takeout" or "offers delivery").

  • Price Range – Mark how expensive the restaurant is with $, $$, or $$$.

Show, don't just tell.

A picture is worth a thousand words! Uploading photos of the menu, gluten-free dishes, or any labeling/signage can be extremely helpful. If you’re reviewing a place with questionable safety, a photo of how the food was served (e.g., did it come with an allergy pick or on a different colored plate to indicate it was gluten-free?) can provide important context for others.
